The VIA tax team is a dynamic, results driven and team-friendly environment. When you join the tax team, you will be joining a small group of professionals who always look for ways to provide high quality tax services and continuously develop efficient processes.

The role

As a Senior Tax Accountant joining us on a 12-month parental leave contract, your work will have a lasting impact on our business by managing tax compliance processes and providing specialist tax advice and support services to ensure the business needs of the VIA operations are met and maximising value for clients.

What you will do

Manage the end-to-end tax compliance process, including but not limited to, Funds, Corporate and Fringe Benefit returns and Business Activity Statements;
Support the calculation for the quarter-end and year-end distributions from the Funds;
Partner with the Fund Accounting team to develop new distribution processes and procedures;
Act as a point of contact for tax related queries, including putting forward a recommendation of resolution to the Tax Manager and taking the lead to resolve for internal clients;
Build and maintain strong working relationships across Vanguard and also with external suppliers to achieve mutually agreeable goals;
Develop and keep abreast of legislative and regulatory tax developments to support implementation of applicable changes and for tax planning;
Provide recommendations with respect to Fund impacts from investor activities; and
Manage the tax reclaims process.

What we are looking for

Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance;
Seven or more years of relevant tax experience (preferred);
CA, CFA or CPA qualification
Strong knowledge of the Funds Management industry;
Advanced in Microsoft Office;
Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, presentation and organisational skills; and
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
