We are seeking a highly skilled individual for the role of Senior Policy Advisor to join the Government Relations team located in our Washington, D.C. office. This position will be responsible for a broad portfolio of matters and will serve as a senior ambassador interacting with U.S regulators and policymakers and representing Vanguard on policy and industry positions. The role also includes the production of applicable regulatory analysis, background briefs, talking points and other reports or materials as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Guides the development of strategies and tactics to advance Vanguard’s public policy agenda
  • Cultivates trusted relationships with key U.S. policymakers and regulatory bodies
  • Serves as a vocal ambassador for policy positions and regulatory subject matter expert
  • Utilizes proactive and persuasive engagement with trade associations to convey Vanguard positions and influence trade association agendas and action plans
  • Works effectively with government relations consultants, consulting firms and other applicable coalitions
  • Develops and maintains internal relationships and effectively communicates policy and regulatory developments affecting various businesses and other key internal stakeholders

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 8 years public policy professional experience in the financial services industry
  • Excellent undergraduate and law school (J.D.) or graduate degree (M.P.P.) academic credentials
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior management and impact decision-making
  • Demonstrated track record of providing business-focused solutions that combine excellent judgment, creativity, risk-taking, and technical expertise
