  • Define API design standards and best practices, and work closely with development teams to consult on API design

  • Develop and maintain Vanguard’s API Developer Portal
  • Participate in running a corporate-wide API hackathon

The API Economy Team in Vanguard’s Chief Technology Office provides the critical AWS cloud-based platform necessary for developers to publish, operate, and consume high quality APIs. As an API Senior Technical Lead, you’ll play a key role in leading the team of talented API platform engineers that operate the Apigee/Google API Management Platform, API Gateway, and Developer Portal that support Vanguard’s growing API portfolio.

Qualification

What it takes

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical experience, Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years overall technical engineering experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a senior engineer, technical lead or architect
  • Knowledgeable in AWS cloud platform architecture: AWS certification preferred
  • In depth experience with an API management platform (Apigee/Google, Mulesoft, etc.), Apigee API Engineer Certification preferred
  • Proficiency in API design including Swagger, OpenAPI spec, REST API and API security frameworks, token management and user access control including OAuth, JWT
  • Solid experience in at least one development or scripting language, Java, Node, React, etc.
