Programs
HBCU EXPLORE Program
The times have changed, but our commitment has not. Vanguard reimagined the annual HBCU EXPLORE program in a 2020 virtual event that meets students and partners where they are. We took input from HBCU students and faculty in our programming design, offering a series of shorter interactive segments at the top of winter break to include topics that matter most. We addressed how to best position yourself virtually, provided candid insights from diverse crew during this time of reckoning, and most importantly positioned participants for internship opportunities across various pathways.
Finally, we added a third day to host an HBCU EXPLORE Partner Symposium. The Partner Symposium offered an empowering agenda, designed to share insights and inspire partners during this year of unprecedented change. Partners were welcomed to join other HBCU faculty and administrators, Vanguard senior leaders, and HBCU alumni and ambassadors for a day of learning and collaboration. As a thank you for continued partnership, we also had a special guest deliver an empowering, unforgettable experience at the top of winter break.
North Star Sophomore Experiential Learning Program

Vanguard’s North Star Sophomore Experiential Learning Program is designed to provide students with a guiding light on your professional path, to offer direction on navigating the financial services industry, and to empower you with information that can change your life and have you reaching for the stars.

North Star is designed as a one-week sophomore experiential learning program to identify high potential, underrepresented minorities for Vanguard’s College to Corporate (C2C) internship opportunities and direct hire positions across business divisions. In the Spring of 2020, our inaugural North Star program was held virtually and focused on:
· Highlighting Vanguard’s purpose in community stewardship
· Networking and building relationships
· Building financial literacy and investment acumen
· Exposing students to Vanguard’s culture inside and outside the walls of the business
Our program’s framework has been designed to further the reach of our HBCU strategy to attract top diverse talent through strategic pillars. The pillars emphasize the uniqueness of Vanguard’s culture and experiential learning process.
