Meet Deji, Financial Advisor Manager

I was actually a financial advisor in an external firm. One of my old clients who was a Vanguard employee kept saying Vanguard would be a really good fit for you. And I used to joke you mean that company down the street that doesn't give you advice, and he would laugh and he would say you know what? You really need to come to Vanguard.

And so we kept talking about it and kept talking about it. And over the years, I wanted to make a career change. And I was like, well, let's try this Vanguard out that my client keeps talking about.

And I ended up here, and I've enjoyed every single moment since. I never have to worry about apologizing to our clients about decisions that we make on a day-to-day basis, right, because at the heart of every decision is our clients and our mission is a focus for every decision that we make. And so that's what's different for me about where I was previously.

I can't believe I'm going to share this, but a couple of years ago I was walking down the stairs in Leander and actually ruptured my quad. It was the most painful thing that I've ever been part of. The number of people who sent me texts, sent cards, sent flowers, and just like reached out after that moment took place reminded me why I wanted to be at Vanguard and reminding me why the people here were so special.

So I spent many years as an advisor Vanguard. Now as a people leader, the most rewarding part of my job is really helping my crew, helping them develop, helping them get to places that they wanted to go to in their career. The times when I go home and I smile the most is when one of my crew members has achieved something that they wanted to achieve, and it's really rewarding for what I do on a day-to-day basis. What I would tell someone who's considering Vanguard is do it. It's the best decision that I have ever made for my career, the people, the company, just the environment that we work in on a day to day basis. So I would say if you're thinking about it, go ahead and do it.
