To learn more about the work behind these moments, we spoke with two CSEC crew members, Reanna E. and Els H. Discover what drives them, why they chose Vanguard, and how they find purpose in helping clients reach their goals.

What is your favorite part about working in a CSEC role?

Reanna: What I love most about my role is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, no matter the size. Helping our clients navigate their significant financial needs, whether it’s through a life change requiring a change of ownershipor rolling over their employer plansthings like this can be daunting. I take pride in simplifying these processes for our clients, ensuring they can accomplish their goals with ease.

Els: Coming from Belgium, I knew nothing about retirement accounts or investing. When we moved to the United States in 2015, I started a job that offered a 401(k)—but I didn’t even know what that meant, so I missed the opportunity. Everything changed when I joined Vanguard.

A whole new world opened up, and I realized how empowering financial knowledge can be. It’s not just about numbers—it’s about freedom, confidence, and building the life you dream of. That’s why I’m passionate about helping clients understand their choices and guiding them toward financial confidence.

Why did you choose to work at Vanguard?

Reanna: I chose Vanguard because I wanted to feel a sense of belonging. Unlike my previous jobs, where I never felt truly connected, Vanguard stands out for its genuine care and commitment to both its crew and clients. This unique environment makes me feel like I’m part of something truly special.

Els: When I was ready to take the next step in my career and explore new opportunities, I came across a job posting for Vanguard. The name sounded familiar, but I couldn’t immediately place it. Then I realized Vanguard had managed the employer-sponsored 401(k) plan at my previous company (the one I missed out on)—and everything clicked. I did my research and learned about Vanguard’s core purpose, which deeply resonated with me.

Now, after more than three years here, I can confidently say that Vanguard truly prioritizes its crew. The culture fosters an environment where employees feel valued and heard, and that commitment translates into exceptional care for our clients.

What advice would you give to someone considering a role in CSEC?

Reanna: If you’re considering a career in CSEC, know that this is the perfect place for those who are passionate about helping others and being part of a supportive team. The work can be challenging, but the rewards are immense, as you get to make a real difference. In CSEC, everything we do is driven by our commitment to our clients and to each other, ensuring that we always act in everyone’s best interest.
