Product Owner
Vanguard Personalized Indexing Management (VPIM) is looking for a Product Owner to join the Product Management Team. Candidate should have a strong curiosity about investments and a background in product management for data and software products. This position involves working in a fluid environment where rapid response and the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously are often required.
This role will be based out of the VPIM offices in Oakland, CA
Core Responsibilities:
- Analyzes business and user needs and documents data or systems requirements
- Translates client requirements to functional documentation. Formulates and defines the systems scope and objectives, based on user needs and business processes.
- Advises business process improvement projects for internal business groups, striving to improve business results.
- Works closely with the developers and other product managers/owners on a daily basis to execute on all job responsibilities.
- Shows skill in data (mapping, analysis, testing)
- Serves as a subject matter authority in ESG data.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

- People with strong attention to detail, track record for writing great documentation, and building effective processes & procedures.
- People who have interest in increasing their investment/product acumen, particularly surrounding separately managed accounts (SMAs).
- Entrepreneurial spirit: driven, passionate about VPIM's mission, and have deep empathy for clients.
- Self-starters. People are comfortable in ambiguous, fast-moving cultures where the measurements for success are often not known at the outset of work.

Qualifications:
- 3 years work experience in product management in financial services
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent
- Experience working in an Agile team preferred and a proven understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Background or interest in investing and passive portfolio management
- Moderate Excel skills preferred, including data management and manipulation (e.g., text and lookup functions) and visualization.
